The Outlook To Puget Sound

 

 

View over the waterThe Washington State Capitol grounds were landscaped by the Olmsted Brothers with plantings that began in 1931. The grounds feature 128 1/2 acres with 8 memorials, and a replica of one of the fountains in the famous Tivoli Park in Copenhagen, Denmark.

 

 

 


 

Walk way leading to Capitol Lake ParkPart of the original 1911 plan for the State Capitol has just begun. The Plan, a contemporary interpretation of a parkway, includes a terraced walkway, from the north side of the Temple of Justice to the Capitol Lake Park, a landscaped promenade along the lake, landscaping, park area and trees that open a view toward Puget Sound.
