The Grounds

Voiceover for the Grounds

Campus Grounds

The Washington State Capitol grounds were landscaped by the Olmsted Brothers with planting that began in 1931. The grounds feature over 100 landscaped acres with many memorials, including a replica of one of the fountains in the famous Tivoli Park in Copenhagen, Denmark.

A part of the original 1911 plan for the State Capitol has recently begun. The plan is for a contemporary interpretation of a parkway. It includes a terraced walkway, from the north side of the Temple of Justice to Capitol Lake Park, a landscaped promenade along the lake, a park area and trees that open a view toward Puget Sound.
