About the director Linda Villegas Bremer

Linda Villegas Bremer is the director of General Administration. Governor Chris Gregoire appointed her in March 2005.

Bremer previously worked at GA as the assistant director of the Transportation, Risk and Mail Division (September 1997 – February 2002).

Prior to re-joining GA, Bremer served as the Director of the Division of Information Technology Services at the Washington State Liquor Control Board.

Bremer has substantial expertise in information technology; project management; business management tools; customer relations; strategic planning; policy development; and human resource issues. She has more than 24 years of experience in management positions in the private sector and state government.

Some highlights from her successful and diverse career include:

  • Director, Information Technology Services, Liquor Control Board: Responsible for the strategic planning and management of technology systems, including related security infrastructure, that supports an agency that buys more than 1,000 products for 157 state stores and 157 contract liquor stores; manages a distribution center for these products; and includes nearly 1,300 employees.
  • Assistant Director, Business & Professions Division, Department of Licensing: Managed a division with 26 programs and a $30 million budget, within an agency responsible for all business licensing in the state.
  • Assistant Director, Human Resource Information System Division, Department of Personnel: Managed a staff of 75 responsible for the statewide personnel/payroll systems for over 50,000 employees and a monthly payroll of $150 million; Health Care Authority insurance eligibility and accounting for over 150,000 participants; Deferred Compensation's financial reporting for a $350 million fund.
