Competitive Contracting
The 2002 Legislature approved the Personnel Reform Act for Washington. The act authorizes competitive contracting within state government.
Competitive contracting gives state agencies the option to determine if contracting for services will save money and boost efficiencies. A process is written into the Personnel Reform Act to help guide agencies through competitive contracting.
On September 15, 2009, the Court of Appeals Division II ruled that GA exceeded its rulemaking authority in regard to parts of WAC 236-51. GA has issued an interpretive and policy statement providing guidance until the rules have been updated. See WSR 10-07-155.
