Comments accepted through November about parking fees
OLYMPIA – General Administration will accepts comments through the end of November 2007 on the new parking fees that will take effect on the Capitol Campus in January 2008.
The new fees – a monthly $5 increase for most parking customers – takes effect January 1, 2008. Employees will receive additional notification in December and again on January 25, when the first paycheck deduction for the new fees will apply.
Parking rates were last increased in 2005, which helped meet the legislative intent that the state not subsidize state employee parking. The 2005 increase more closely aligned the actual cost of providing parking services to the amount paid by parkers. It also allowed for enhancements in on-campus parking facilities. The 2008 increase will continue to do the same.
The rate increase applies to about 6,000 parking customers in the Plaza Garage, the General Administration Garage, the Columbia Street Garage and surface lots on the East and West Campus.
General Administration held two public meetings in July about the fee increase.
