Custodial Services works to prevent spread of flu virus

General Administration’s Custodial Services is committed to ensuring that appropriate preventative measures are taken to help stop the spread of flu in the workplace. Here is a breakdown of the actions Custodial Services is taking.

  • Public areas are disinfected daily. This includes restrooms; surfaces such as elevator buttons and plates; door handles; push plates; and stair railings. Custodial Services uses a variety of organic cleaning products.
  • All office space, conference rooms and other areas are cleaned once a week.
  • Custodial Services can also maintain hand-sanitizing stations for agencies during the winter months when the flu virus is most prevalent. All requests to disinfect an office workspace because of increased levels of flu or flu-like symptoms can be made by contacting Customer Service at 725-0000.
  • Weekly cleaning of office space may not be enough for some areas of the campus during the flu season to prevent a flu outbreak. Agencies should review the state Department of Health guidelines:

Custodial Services is happy to help on a reimbursable basis with any of the cleaning activities noted. Several agencies have already contacted us for additional services.

If flu outbreaks seem to be increasing on your office area and you are interested in long- or short-term changes or increases in service, or if adjustments in your schedule are necessary, please contact Customer Service at 725-0000.
