Capitol Lake Adaptive Management Plan Steering Committee
In 1997, General Administration organized the Capitol Lake
Adaptive Management Plan Steering Committee. The committee, a
nine-member group of state, local and tribal government
representatives, advises General Administration on the long-term
management of Capitol Lake and the lake basin. The committee has
developed a
10-year plan
to guide the management of the lake. The plan addresses a broad
range of issues and opportunities through fourteen objectives.
Recently the committee has addressed Objective 2 of the Plan,
which calls for the development of a long-range management direction
for the lake. The committee completed an “estuary
feasibility study”
and an “alternatives
analysis”
,
and then produced a
long-term management recommendation for the Capitol Lake basin
which calls for a comprehensive approach to estuary restoration.
General Administration is considering the committee’s recommendation and will bring forward the Department’s own recommendation in the future. Public comment regarding all aspects of the management of Capitol Lake is welcome. Please use the online feedback form.
